How’s it going people, it’s your favorite critic dropping a review of “Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw” which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Venessa Kirby, Cliff Curtis, Roman Reigns, John Tui, Josh Mauga, Eliana Sua, Lori Pelenise Tuisano, Ezia Gonzalez, Helen Mirren, Eddie Marsan, with Rob Delaney and more and it’s directed by David Leitch who worked on other films such as “Deadpool 2”, “Atomic Blonde”, and “John Wick”
Synopsis: When MI6 agent Hattie Shaw steals a virus that can cause a global contamination the CIA calls two of the best men for the task Career Lawman Luke Hobbs and Rouge former MI6 agent Deckard Shaw. While the duo are having a difficult time working together a super enhanced Assassin named Brixton is hunting down Hattie and take back the virus and use it to commit genocide on humanity.
Man I had a great time watching this movie, the action sequences were fast paced, the comedy was absolutely gold, the characters were awesome in their own rights. Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs was badass and hilarious, same can be said for Jason Statham as Dekard Shaw, Idris Elba as Brixton was also badass, overpowered, and a intimating villain and was one of my favorite characters of the movie, Venessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw impressed me and showed that she can be just as good as the guys. Also David Leitch did a great job directing this film since the Fast and Furious films has had a lot of different directors that worked in the franchise before. While the story is really ridiculous it knows that it’s not taking it’s self seriously. It’s like those 1980s action movies such as “Commando” with a mix of 90s action cartoons plus a Mission Impossible feeling to it, and to top it off with a buddy cop dynamic between Hobbs and Shaw since they are always at each other’s throats but they still make a great duo.
The only way you can enjoy this film is by knowing what your getting your self into but if don’t then you may not like enjoy it as much. And while there are flaws that are noticeable it’s still entertaining none the less.
I’m gonna give “Hobbs & Shaw” a 7.5 out of 10
