On our way to the Arctic we made a stop in the city of London. There we visited the shop Arthur Beale, which was established more than 400 years ago. It was originally named John Buckingham and was a manufacturer of ropes for ships. Now, in addition to manufacturing ropes, the shop sells other equipment and accessories for yachts, clothing, memorabilia and books.
Arthur Beale outfitted famous journeys to the Himalayas and some Antarctic expeditions such as the very last one of Sir Ernest Shackleton.
Here at Wayfinders we are passionate not only about current polar travels, but also about the history of polar exploration.
