🍞 EMBRACE THE MESS 🥦
One of the major issues people seem to have with BLW (after choking) is the mess.
Yes it's messy, but isn't puree too? I have found that eventually BLW babies make less mess because they are completely in control.
Imagine being spoon fed for months, then one day you are given a bowl of food and allowed to try yourself, you would be so excited and just want to touch, explore, throw and paint yourself with it.
But, if you are given full control from day one, after the exploring phase, you know that it's to eat and more tends to go in the mouth.
I couldn't resist sharing these pictures of Alexander loving trying a new meal for the first time. They are still lots of new things for him to try, so seeing him with new things is always exciting.
Here he had eaten most of his own so I gave him some more from my plate. He was very happy!
Some good tips I have for the mess is..
🥦 A dog, the best clean up crew!
🥦 If you have a carpet at your table, then a meter squate of table cloth fabric. This can be bought cheap in local hobby stores. We used to take this when visiting family too if needed.
🥦 Small portions, it can be tempting to put lots on tye plate as you know most will end up on the floor. But start with one bit of everything from the meal. See how baby is and what they eat, then offer more.
🥦 Small brush and shovel, you can get small ones from the £1 shop, keep it near your high chair for easy access. You can also pop in your bag for going out.
Do you embrace the mess?
