Florence has a huge leather market, and when we went there we were armed with lots of cash and the knowledge of how to bargain the right way. The moment you walk into the street packed with merchandise tents on all sides, you're immediately enveloped with the rich aroma of leather and the more you walk, the more sellers would try to pull you into their stall to buy everything from wallets to purses to magnets. Everywhere you turn there are more purses dangling from the top of the tents, tables jam-packed with wallets of all colors and sized, glasses cases, gloves, belts, magnets, souvenier trinkets and countless other products with one thing in common- it is all made of genuine Italian leather. The moment you show the most slightest interest in something, right away you are offered an amazing deal on it, just for you. While bargaining and negotiating with the seller, the hardest part is to decide to buy or not to buy- maybe there is a cheaper option a little farther down the street. I ended up extremely bargaining down the price of two wallets, and a few moments after my exhilarating purchase I saw practically the same wallets for cheaper. I learned to just accept what I bought since there's no use in regretting something that can't be changed. Walking out of the market armed with all your goods, each one with its own story behind the purchase, you're exausted and exhilarated at the same time- it is truly an experience you've got to do at least once in your life.
Later on that day, we went to a rose garden where a winding path led up and up to the top where there's a large pavement area where you see the entire city below on all sides. It was amazing finding the places we went to during the day, such as the Great Synagogue of Florence- a magnificent Shul/Museum from the 1800's. The walls are an intricate geometrical design, all hand painted and the acoustics in the Shul are astounding. Standing up there during sunset was the perfect way to end our long, jam-packed day in the beautiful city of Florence, a city full of culture, art and history everywhere you turn.
