We drove a long way down a rarely maintained dirt/clay/bumpy rock road to get to this spot - and even did our first river crossing! Although @maxgorski and I bought a truck years ago specifically to be able to drive more roads like this, we hadn’t actually done that much of it before this trip (with a few notable, harrowing exceptions). It is a bit intimidating to commit to driving a road with a sign that says it is not patrolled, and that if you get stuck it could be days before someone finds you, and that if it rains, the clay portions of the road become impassible until they dry out (this was an abstract concept at the time that we would get a chance to experience and understand in real time later in the week!). But we made it. We made it to a cozy campsite not far from this view, cooked dinner over a fire, and then enjoyed this beautiful place in the middle of nowhere... watching those distant storm clouds, and hoping they would miss us.
