Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away.

It’s no secret, I’m not a very good beach goer. A day at the beach is relaxing, but to me, it can sometimes be endless! I last about 23 minutes before I get restless. Like a child, I’ll start grazing on snacks, have a drink, then maybe go for a dip. Sometimes I read and then realize pages later, I was actually listening to the family next to us the whole time. So forget reading at the beach. Then I check my Instagram, but who gets reception on a Cape beach? If we have our kayaks with us, it’s a bonus—an activity! Otherwise, I’ll take a walk, hum along to our music, reapply sunscreen, people watch, or, you know, take pictures. Last week while my husband was happily reading—which he can do for hours on a beach (and unlike me, not be distracted by the family beside us)—I went down to the water’s edge and just started snapping. Forget hunting down scenes with perfect light, fighting off bugs for the best capture, and waking at 5am to catch that sunrise. A great shot was in front of me all along, during just a leisurely, endless day at the beach!
