Ahead of the game against City, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided some insights about the team injuries.
United fans can breathe a sigh of relief to see that Anthony Martial would be back to the squad and is fully fit for playing. Although he might not get the entire 90 mins, he'll surely be used as a sub.
The 24-year-old missed Wednesday’s win over Tottenham Hotspur after picking up an injury during last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, but the boss says he could feature at the Etihad Stadium, even if it’s initially as a substitute. In his absence, 18 y/o Mason Greenwood was given the start.
But on the other side, United's star midfielder Paul Pogba is still recovering. He's back in training and has shown improvement, but he's still not fully fit to feature in a game for the club.
An ankle injury had ruled him out of since the last of September, and is expected to make his return before the new year. Pogba scored a brace in our last away City match and could've been a vital part of our squad in this match.
The boss hasn't given any updates on Nemanja Matic. Eric Bailly, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot are still out due to injury and are currently warming up in the AON Centre. It's only a matter of time they'll be fit again.
To be honest, other than Pogba, we won't be missing any of the other players that much. But we needed Pogba badly since he could link our midfield with the forwards extremely well. Without him, the pressure on Fred and Mctominay just gets increased.
City will also miss Aguero, Sane, Laporte, Zinchenko due to injuries and Gundogan might make a comeback. But with City's depth, it's not even a matter of worry for Pep.
How long do you think will Pogba be out? Do you see United pulling off 3 points with the current squad against city? Let us know about your thoughts 👀 👂
