A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. — John Steinbeck Wonderful caption posted from @dom_reardon_photo ______ Tag someone who’s in love with travel! ✈️ Follow @stunninguk for more and use #stunninguk to share your posts with us, insane pic is coming soon. ______

WARNSCALE BECK——————————————————— 📍Buttermere, The Lake District ——————————————————— Warnscale Beck is a river in the Lake District, Cumbria, England which flows in a northwesterly direction to its mouth in the Buttermere lake. The Warnscale Beck has several small tributaries, including the Black Beck, which rises in the Blackbeck Tarn. By connecting the Buttermere Lake with the Crummock Water, from which the River Cocker originates, the Warnscale Beck can be counted among the source rivers of the River Cocker. ——————————————————— #buttermere #warnscalebeck #lakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #fromlakelandwithlove #thelakelanders #onelakedistrict #hikingthelakes #walkinguk #igerscumbria #ukscenery #ukhiddengems #ukhikers

Piot Crag and the route up to Smallwater. My plan on Sunday was to walk up to Smallwater, then up Nan Bield for a couple of shots down into Kentmere that I have in mind, then on up to either Harter Fell or High Street. The lake district weather had other ideas and that wee splash of light which flitted across the scene was the last before it hammered down. 8 degrees down in Mardale. Go home June, you're drunk. #landscapephotography #lakedistrictnationalpark #lakedistrict #lakedistrictuk #hikingthelakes #fromlakelandwithlove #mardale #bnw_greatshots #bnw #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography #mono #monomoods #monochrome #monochromephotography #igerscumbria

A Daily Forest - Crummock Water ________________________________________ Crummock Water doesn’t get the same love as its more glamourous sister, Buttermere : ) It should, because this beautiful, peaceful place is stunning. Endless, sparkling water under great looming fells. I was lucky to catch it in blazing sunshine this year. ________________________________________ #philmcdarby #adailyforest #thelakelanders #lakedistrict #thelakedistrict #cumbria #capturingbritain #gloriousbritain #uk_greatshots #fromlakelandwithlove #lovelakeswalks #landscapes_of_britain #igerscumbria #igerslakedistrict #lakedistrictnationalpark #scenicbritain #brilliantbritain #nature_brilliance #fav_squares #beautiful #thisprettyengland #everything_imaginable #hikingthelakes #onelakedistrict #light #raw_uk_ #crummockwater #crummock

Life suddenly seems quite simple. I’m trying to use one of my days off each week to walk one of the Wainwrights, if I can. ⁣ ⁣ I used to be quite nervous solo hiking, a bit slow, a bit imbalanced. But investing in some hiking poles and decent boots has really helped, and each week I’m trying to push myself a little more, move a little faster, climb a little higher.⁣ Pick a place, climb the fell, feel my body change, notice my heart and mind flourish. ⁣ ⁣ Growing a little bit stronger, and falling in love with the Lake District a little bit more with each passing week 💚

Looking down the valley of Miterdale from the crags at the head of it. The valley was formed by an ancient river that cut it's way down and the curved crags at its head would have formed an impressive waterfall. The old river has since changed course causing the River Mite to be a more gentle stream rather than a raging river but the valley its left behind is well worth a wander along. . . . . . #thegreatoutdoors #osmaps #ordnancesurvey #igooutdoors #ourlakedistrict #ukhikers #scenicbritain #lakeswalksandpubs #hikingthelakes #fromlakelandwithlove #thelakelanders #backpackingbritain #lakedistrict #timetoplay #igerslakedistrict #igerscumbria #visitcumbria #thisismyadventure #lakedistrictuk #mudandroutes #lifeoutdoors #werehikers #neverstopexploring #createyourtrail #livefortheoutdoors #modernoutdoors #sharpedge #adventurethatislife #welivetoexplore #wastwaterscrees

[...] A dismal cirque Of druid stones, upon a forlorn moor, When the chill rain begins at shut of eve In dull November and their chancel vault, The heaven itself, is blinded throughout night. John Keats, Hyperion (excerpt) I had more luck than Keats! Fine weather - okay, just after taking this picture, it began to rain 😁. And I visited the #castlerigg stonecircle in August (two years ago), not in November. . . . #lakedistrict #walking #hiking #visituk #keats #england #wanderlust #instahike #mountains #friluftsliv #yha #unterwegs #travel #travelphotography #cumbria #landscape #fernweh #fell #stonecircle #roamtheplanet #explore #keswick #steinzeit #fromlakelandwithlove #UKHiddenGems

A Panoramic view of Wastwater from the mouth of the river at Low Wood in the Lake district. I was happy to get these brief calm conditions at sunset and get the reflections and the red glow of the sun on the screes. I was about to pack up for the evening when this fleeting light appeared.

I love visiting la'al churches dotted around the Lake District when I'm on my wanders. This one is St. Bartholomew's Church at Loweswater. ------ "The Church of St Bartholomew’s at Loweswater that you see today dates almost entirely from the year 1884, when a small plain Lakeland chapel consecrated in 1829 was extensively enlarged and improved. The work was undertaken because a leadmine was opened at Godferhead, and a vast expansion in population was predicted. In the event, the mine failed, and the population remained static. Little remains of the earlier Church, except for the board on which the Ten Commandments, Creed and Lord’s Prayer were painted, which may still be seen on the East wall of the organ chamber. Another possible reminder of the old Church may be the nave windows. The first mention of a place of worship at Loweswater was in 1125 in the records of St Bees Priory. Monks from the Priory would come and take services, and bodies for burial would be taken away along the corpse road through Holme Wood." - https://www.visitcumbria.com/cm/loweswater-st-bartholomew-church/ ----- #stbartholomewschurch #loweswater #church #history #churchporn #lakedistrict #cumbria #greatbritain #ukscenery #thegreatoutdoors #fromlakelandwithlove #getoutside #lakedistrictnationalpark #lakedistrictphotography #photosofbritain #scenicbritain #theplacetobe #outdoors #lakedistrictuk
