What could have been 😂. Was in my old logo files this week for some new collateral we’re working on @revival_rugs and wanted to share some logos and marks that could-have-been 🙈. (Knowing the brand so intimately now, the script one cracks me up). . I feel really honored to have been with the Revival Rugs team from the early days. From branding to art direction to web design to dabbling in product design, I’ve Ioved working closely with the smart, kind, funny, and talented and scrappy team at Revival over the last 2 years. Startup culture at its best. (Shoutout to @annawuphoto who introduced us — apparently Anna is the fairy godmother of my life!) . We’ve got some really special rugs headed your way in the coming weeks so be sure to sign up for early access if you want in! I am betting they will sell out so... let’s make that happen people! I personally wish I had a bigger place to furnish with this new batch of rugs 😅. . Here’s to clients-friends-colleagues who make this journey worth the challenges ✨ . And yes, feeling much better today and taking advantage of it by posting on Instagram.... 🤔

#repost “Eric Dolphy was a complete musician. He could fit anywhere. He was a fine lead alto in a big band. He could make it in a classical group. And, of course, he was entirely his own man when he soloed... He had mastered jazz. And he had mastered all the instruments he played. In fact, he knew more than what’s supposed to be possible to do on them.” - Charles Mingus Remembering Eric Dolphy on his birthday (June 20, 1928 – June 29, 1964) Dolphy and Mingus in Newport --- The Newport Rebels 1960 by William Claxton #jazzlegend #jazzsaxophonist #jazzcomposer #jazz #bebop #avantgarde #freejazz #classicjazz #composer #clarinet #sax #flute #brillance #greatness #master #enigma #ericdolphy #charlesmingus #bass #piano #pioneer #fromthearchives #jazzphotography #williamclaxton #icons #hbd #virtuoso #genius #rip 🎼🎵🎶🎷🎻🎹🙏✌🖤

My book club pick for June 2019 - Mary Ventura and the Ninth Kingdom Recently - and with a little help - I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this find at a book store. It is the latest release from the Sylvia Plath archives and comes to us from her 20-year-old self. It is a story about a girl who is young and hesitant and unsure. It is filled with decision and allegory. Released this year, it unveils a sinister train ride where uncertainty seems to be the only constant. I absolutely loved it. Check this one out and let me know what you think, Creepsters. You can find it here ~ https://www.amazon.com/Mary-Ventura-Ninth-Kingdom-Story/dp/0062940856 #ReadOn #readersofinstagram #CreepOn #readers #SylviaPlath #bookstagram #FromtheArchives #bookshelf #bookclub #bookclubofinstagram #NightLightCastShadows #bookworm #NightLightsBookClub #books #CallingAllBookNerds #booklovers #BookNerdsUnite

#TBT #FromtheArchives : "One of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, the HMS Bounty was docked on the Pier Approach behind the  @historystpete  for 20 years. Built in 1960 for the film Mutiny on the Bounty, the magnificent replica of the 18th Century British naval gunship almost never made it to St. Pete. MGM had plans to burn her in the closing scene, but the film’s star Marlon Brando protested the ship’s destruction. MGM then used the tall ship to promote Mutiny on the Bounty before permanently mooring it in St. Petersburg. The HMS Bounty was purchased by Ted Turner in 1986 and began splitting its time between northern ports in the summer and St. Pete in the winter. The Bounty was also used in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Treasure Island and Yellowbeard. In October of 2012, the Bounty left New London, Connecticut and was making its way to St. Petersburg when she encountered Hurricane Sandy. The Bounty took on water and sank southeast of the Outer Banks area of North Carolina. The ship lost one of its crew and captain in tragedy." . . #StPete   #History   #HMSBounty . . #TBT to 1991 with this Print by #Queer artist Miguel Angel Reyes titled “Tension”. Learn more about the piece in Miguel’s own words below! 🎨 “The image of the "Tension" print is based on 2 things. First, the reoccurring nightmare I experienced as a kid from age 7-12, after having an electrocution accident. In the nightmare I would fly up, until I got stuck in the tension wires of an electrical pole. Second overlapping visual is based on the feeling. I felt as I waited for my HIV diagnosis. Feeling caught on top of the electrical, with the +/- diagnosis waiting right under me.” - Miguel 🎨 Born in Colima, Mexico, Reyes immigrated to the United States in 1975 with his family and began his career as an artist after graduating from the Otis Art Institute/Parsons School of Design in 1987. Reyes's work has been featured in places like the Mexican Fine Arts Gallery Museum in Chicago, Self-Help Graphics in Los Angeles, the Laguna Art Museum, and even the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle for a mural project commissioned by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority. . . . All of the prints are one-of-a-kind print available for purchase from our archive. Every print purchased from our Professional Printmaking Program supports the artist and the organization = win/win. Tiny Lou no. 61 (Susan Stryker)⁣ ⁣ 〰〰〰〰⁣ We are so thrilled that legendary scholar Dr. Susan Stryker wrote the introduction for our book. While working at @glbth_history , she prepared the diaries and wrote the collection's finding aid that is still in use today. Her introduction is historical, elegant, sweet, connecting Sullivan's ideas on gender to her own thoughts, to Lacan and to broader trans studies and narratives. ⁣ 〰〰〰〰⁣ 〰〰〰〰⁣ #lousullivan #susanstryker #transhistory #gay #queerhistory #aidshistory #whatisrememberedlives #qeer #queerarchive #milwaukee #sanfrancisco #sanfranciscohistory #lgbthistory #haveprideinhistory #deardiary #queerauthor #lgbtq #icon #pride #femaletogaymale #diaries #lgbtlegend #gayicon #fromthearchives #smallpress #trans #ftm #lgbtq #visitinglou

Some may say the inventor of baseball had Nantucket ties! An article published in @nantucket_magazine 1998 early summer edition by Hobson Woodward stated: “Any fan will tell you that Abner Doubleday was the inventor of baseball. But few know that if it hadn’t been for the son of a Nantucketer, America’s ball game would not be what it is today. Alexander Joy Cartwright Jr.—the son of a Nantucket mariner—was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, in 1938. There, his portrait is captioned with the words ‘Father of Baseball.’ A more fitting tribute is not possible for a man who literally created the game as we know it.” . . Hobson cites a book by @sportsillustrated Harold Peterson, The Man Who Invented Baseball, in which he states that turn-of-the-century baseball owners wanted to mask the game’s origin as an English sport, so they created a story saying that Abner Doubleday invented the game in a Cooperstown field. The story is wholly false, and, according to Peterson, “one of the most amusingly fraudulent pieces of manufactured history extant.” . . In the 1880s, Nantucket caught the baseball fever sweeping the country. America’s favorite pastime provided excitement in the years after the collapse of the whaling industry. Back then, you could still catch a ‘Sconset vs. Nantucket game at Sunset Hill, right behind the Oldest House. . . 1. Circa. 1915. A baseball game on Sunset Hill. Relief of a car on the outer wall of the Jagaraga temple in Northern Bali, with a dog sitting next to the driver and two bearded men in the back. The first 3 cars in Bali were imported in 1913 by the Dutch "controller" in Singaraja; the raja of Bangli; and by a Mrs. Patimah, who had fled her marriage with the king of Klungkung in the South, married a Muslim in Singaraja in the North, and with her imported car opened the first taxi company in Bali. This relief may well show that first taxi... * * #bali #indomesiaindah #temples #pesonaindonesia #amazingasia #traveler #travelmemories #traveltheworld #travelinspiration #travelwithme #phototraveller #travelphotooftheday #borntotravel #wandermore #wonderlust #vacationgoals #makingmemories #amazingplace #wonderfulworld #neverstopexploring #exploreyourworld #becurious #culturetrip #historicsite #unescoworldheritage #ancient #monument #fromthearchives #photoarchitecture #phototour
