Do you remove followers regularly?
I know, weirdest question yet and you’re probably thinking “Uh...Kailee, that’s counter productive to my growth on social media.” But the truth is...THATS A MYTH. Let me tell you why:
#1 THE BOTS 🤖
You know, the spammers. They find you in hashtags that have a TON of posts + they find you following large accounts.
#2 THE GHOSTS 👻
The people who followed you in 2014 but never touched that particular Instagram account again.
#3 THEY JUST AREN’T YOUR PEOPLE 🤷🏻♀️
The active account ghost — not intentionally but they just don’t vibe with your content so they don’t engage BUT they don’t want to unfollow you completely...sorry but bye! 👋🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
PSA: If this is you ☝🏼 it’s okay, open up the space for that person to have a follower that vibes with them + will engage and get value!
Instagram shows content to 10% of your audience. TEN PERCENT. THATS IT. So, if a large part of your following has anything to do with the profiles listed above then the people who are following you because they wanted to see your posts probably aren’t seeing them at all!
It’s okay if you don’t have a huge following, it really is. It doesn’t mean you aren’t successful! Consistently remove followers if they just don’t belong in your space! Keep your audience is growing organically through engagement + hashtags and that will be better than any follower count that’s ruled by ghosts and bots who just aren’t your people. 😉
