This will always be my favourite location out west, regardless that most of our time there was sleeping in the parking lot waiting to catch the sunrise before having to leave for our flight.

Banff, Alberta . . . . . I recently traveled to Canada with my family for a much needed vacation. The trip was an absolutely amazing experience and really opened my eyes to the natural beauty Canada has to offer. Right now, the biggest challenge I face is going through the 1,660 photos I took and taking the time to properly edit the best ones. I’m finding myself doing very minimal color edits to these photos because they really don’t need much, but I also want to present them as realistic as possible. Since we explored Canada for over 12 days, there will definitely be plenty more to come. . . . . . Fun Facts: This is a 10 image panorama If printed to full resolution the picture would be 7.5 ft x 2.5 ft The image is just shy of 1 GB My computer only crashed 5 times trying to stitch these images together This was taken at an altitude of 7,500 ft In the foreground is Bow River, which runs through Banff You can see Lake Minnewanka towards the top right of the image Cascade Mountain on the left is 4.25 miles away Mt Aylmer in the back is over 12 miles away . . . . . #focusedviews #canada #alberta #banff   #banffnationalpark   #lakelouise #calgary #nature #explorecanada #mountains #travelalberta #wanderlust #canadianrockies #explorealberta #travel #hiking #rockymountains #jasper #morainelake   #adventure #mybanff #banffcanada   #natgeohub #natgeowild #natgeolandscape   #pocket_world   #ig_landscape #dream_spots #visual_heaven #landscapephotography

Yosemite or Banff? Shot reminds me of El Capitan in the background. Where Moraine lake is beautifully blue, look up and see some surrounding mountains with the clouds dancing around. Going to look awesome on Metal! Shot with the A7Riii 100-400gm; 400mm, 400iso, 5.6 at 1/400z . . . #banff #mountains #morainelake #moraine #canada #banffnationalpark #jasper #jaspernationalpark #yosemite #elcapitan #yosemitenationalpark #nationalparkgeek #nationalpark #nationalparks #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography #landscapes #rockies #canadianrockies #thatpnwlife #pnw #penlive #prtv #mckaylive

“Soy ese q quiere vivir en un sueño contigo, Y acabo en un mundo raro, a lo tim burton, sin amigos, Salto y siento q vuelo, El edén está más cerca, ya puedo sentir el cielo, Es mágico, visitar lugares inexistentes, Porque aquí dentro al miedo se le hace frente, En mi libreta vivo historias q jamás viviré, Pero estoy seguro q mientras duerma las soñaré, Y eso me basta para ser feliz.” . @realporta . . . Last week we read an essay about the impacts of social media on Canada’s wild spaces. The essay was specifically on Joffre Lakes, the stunning blue waters only a few hours from Vancouver, BC. The lakes exploded in popularity in the last few years, and on any given day you’ll see the parking lot full and a line of people waiting to get their photo taken standing on the Instagram-famous log there. Just look at the hashtag #joffrelakes and you’ll get the idea. What struck me though, was the closing line of the essay. The reporter was having one final conversation with a man along the lakeshore about the impacts of social media on these areas, and the man replied, “That’s true. But just look at this place; who wouldn’t want to come here?” This line resonated with us and our relationship with Moraine Lake as photographers. Social media has exploded Moraine into popularity, and it is by far the place we shoot at the most. It’s bittersweet, though, because Moraine was never built to sustain the recent surge of visitors and we often question our own impact (both in person and online) on this already-crowded place. There’s a silver lining to every story though. With the surge of popularity, the Government of Canada just announced $14 million dollars in funding to the mountain national parks like Banff to increase conservation efforts and upgrade transit systems for handling the crowds. Beyond extra funding, I often wonder how visitors are impacted when they come to places like Moraine or Joffre, or any of the other places affected by social media popularity. How many people return home inspired to be more sustainable? And although we don’t have the answers to what the future holds as we grapple with our own impact on the planet, at the end of the day you can always find the silver lining. After all, just look at this place; who wouldn’t want to come here?

Best Bars and Restaurants of Banff! ⠀ I was truly impressed how many amazing high end places has a small mountain town of Banff! ⠀ Here’s my TOP-10: ⠀ 1️⃣ Block Kitchen & Bar Absolutely top favorite! Small place with delicious food and outstanding cocktails (we tried nearly all of them 🤪). Bartender Jonatan is the best! ⠀ 2️⃣ Sky Bistro Perfect for some dinner with a view, especially for sunset. Little life-hack - get a reservation online and your gondola ride will be free ($50 pp otherwise!). ⠀ 3️⃣ Lakeview Lounge Yes, it’s not in Banff, it’s at the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. But so worth to visit as I was saying before, even for a cup of coffee. ⠀ 4️⃣ The Bison Reservations are required a couple of days in advance. Go for food, drinks and the atmosphere! ⠀ 5️⃣ Park Distillery Restaurant and Bar Reservations are also required 2-3 days before. Ground floor has a beautiful patio for some fresh air and people watching 😇 ⠀ 6️⃣ Grizzly House Try Steak or Cheese fondue as an experience, or smoke some wild meet (or veggies) on a piece of extremely hot granite! Pair with local brews. ⠀ 7️⃣ Rose and Crown Although it has a vibe of more like a Dive Bar, their rooftop with a view of Cascade Mountain is just wow! Not even sure if Banff has others 🤔 ⠀ 8️⃣ Whitebark Cafe It is a coffee shop, but it’s that good and believe me you’ll need it! ⠀ 9️⃣ The Maple Leaf More of a traditional type of a restaurant and one night when it was pouring, we had a pretty good dinner here with a bottle of Canadian wine 😋 ⠀ 🔟 Chuck’s Steakhouse Obviously for some beef steak and New Canadian cuisine! It also has a view of the mountains! ⠀ Save and enjoy! ❤️ ⠀ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ⠀ Follow me on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app to get the product details for this look and others http://liketk.it/2EX4w #morainelake #lakemoraine #lakelouise #alberta #albertacanada #explorealberta #explorecanada #explorebanff #banff #mybanff #hiking #hikealberta #travelalberta #canadianrockies #hikingadventures

Le parc National de Banff situé dans les rocheuses canadiennes est le plus ancien parc du Canada. La nature à perte de vue, et des paysages à couper le souffle !
