Really looking forward to having my hiking buddy back this weekend for some fun in the hills. It was weird not having her around this weekend. I hope everyone is having a good morning. I'm determined to make the most of this free time in my life and get my fitness up. First stop today, climbing! . . . #GetOutside #mountains #hiking #visitpeakdistrict #ig_peakdistrict #landscape #highpeak #darkpeak #peak.district #intonature #hillwalking #walkinguk #ukhikers #nature #nationalparksuk #peakdistrictphotography #photogaphypeakdistrict #outdoors #hikemore #england #peakdistricthikers

To cap off the national parks portion of our UK road trip, we spent a couple nights along the bonny banks of Loch Lomond . This area is truly a sight to behold! The lake is massive, so on Day 7 we hiked to the top of Conic Hill to get these amazing views 🤩. --- Loch Lomond is only one of many lakes in The Trossachs National Park. We learned there's multi-day hiking routes through the area and is the first time we actually encountered people backpacking ⛺🥾 like we used to do back home. We were a little sad to learn about this at the end of our trip and are already discussing a return someday to backpack it ourselves. --- The lakes are a destination for all types of travelers and budget types. You can find everything from basic campsites, to RV pitches and B&Bs. We even ran into an older couple (from Washington State no less!) who contracted with a company to take their luggage from one village to the next, while they walked the trails at their own pace, unburdened. --- Do you prefer tent camping, campervan/RV'ing or B&B's?

The bluest and deepest lake In North America was the result of an volcano eruption 7,700 years ago. Maybe nature is trying to tell us something...

You can usually find the pigs 🐷 roaming the forest floors from around the third week in September, or whenever the acorns begin to drop from the beautiful oak and beech trees. Up to 600 pigs and piglets 🐖 will work their way through the forest eating the acorns and nuts from the forest floor. It is the only time of year that the pigs are allowed to ‘roam’ the open forest, the rest of the time they are kept in their smallholdings by the commoners. In the 19th century the number of pigs released for pannage was as high as 6,000. Visit the New Forest during Pannage season and book your two night stay now from only £99 - link in the bio 👆 #pannage #newforest

Mother mandarin sheltering her ducklings on the river Dart in Dartmoor National Park 🦆🐤🐤 . They arrived in a procession and rested on these boulders for about an hour to get some much needed snoozes! . This was in Dart Valley Nature Reserve managed by @devonwildlifetrust. It was one of the most beautiful places on Dartmoor I have visited. Cuckoos, pied flycatchers and willow warblers all sang there. . The name Dart actually derives from oak. Dartmoor is not renowned for its trees but the river valleys are cloaked in ancient oak woodland. . I love that oak meant so much to people all those centuries ago and how that connection is still alive in the placename. . . . #dartmoor #dartmoornationalpark #nationalparksuk #mandarinduck #birdsofinstagram #devonwildlifetrust #instanature #nikonphotography

What a camping spot! Fair to say it was well worth carrying the extra beers to watch that sunset!

I had a little wild explore on Dartmoor after my day's work and dinner last night... . And how perfectly timed with some rather gorgeous light. Decades ago I used to travel a lot for work, and over a couple of years spent a lot of time in the south west. But my work was always in the midst of winter, and I recall many long dark nights of frustration at it having been dark since 4pm and my exploring opportunities therefore having been sadly curtailed. Nowadays, there is the need to spend time with family, so in recent years I've likewise come to Devon and failed to see it! . But how wonderful it's been this last couple of days to have had a little time to myself to explore... . One more evening ahead of me - do I do beach or do I do hill??

BANG! The sun is always casting the sound of its warmth upon the landscape ,from rise till set, life depends on it. I’ve been preparing for a talk called crash and bang at this year’s #lancashiresciencefestival . This image kind of reinforces the BANG of the talk. It talks about the science of sounds and forces related to stone tool making. Have a great evening everyone. 👍 #explore #thefrozendivide #igerscumbria #lakedistrict #thelakelanders #fromlakelandwithlove #lakedistrictuk #explorethelakes #lakedistrictphotography #lakelandhikingcollective #hikingadventures #hikingthelakes #Outdoors #mountainsfellsandhikes #LakeDistrict #Hiking #landscape_captures #landscape_perfection #landscapephotography #nationalparksuk #explore_landscapes #getOutside #capturingbritain #artofvisuals #landscapes_obsessions #exploretocreate #landscapelove #landscapephotos

One good thing about these early starts at this time of the year, is that you can end up having even the most popular locations to yourself 😊 Although, increasingly more often these days, you may also find yourself stepping over sleeping bodies and barbecue waste or having to drive on past cos parking is filled with overnight camping vans 🤬 Fortunately this location was the former....smiley face time 😊😊 #nisiuk #lenslightnisiuk #nisi #lakedistrict #cumbria #landscapephotography #lakedistrictnationalpark #theplacetobe #thisismyadventure #onelakedistrict #fromlakelandwithlove #thelakekanders #hikingthelakes #osmaps #nationaltrust #nationalparksuk #britains_talent @land__form #love_lakes_walks #agameoftones #reflection_perfection #igerscumbria #watersoilsky #everything_imaginable #photosofbritain

ʀʜʏᴅᴅɪᴅ ⠀⠀ Stood on the trigpoint at Arenig Fach, fully clothed this time 🙈, looking towards the Rhinogs. One of our favorite things about camping is soaking up the natural scenery 🏕️. There's so much beauty this world has to offer, be it in your own backyard or miles away. --- Day 4 of our trip finally had the sun come out, so we took full advantage by getting some walking in. Although we didn't stray far, it was fun to visit the nearby villages and watch baby lambs 🐑 frolicking through the grass. Check out our Instagram stories for a few fun pics and vids! --- Our time away was a good reminder that unplugging 🔌 daily, even if only for a little while, is important to our overall wellbeing. What's your favorite activity to do when taking a digital detox?

ᴛʜᴇ ᴘᴀᴛʜ ʟᴇᴀsᴛ ᴛʀᴀᴠᴇʟʟᴇᴅ ⠀⠀ Or in today’s case, just no path. A fantastic mini adventure to Arenig Fach with @my.hiking.adventures . We beat the thunderstorms, found an old shepherd’s hut, scoped out wild camp spots, didn’t see another person for 6 hours and even the sun showed up on occasion. And I talked Andy’s ears off. Felt amazing to be out. ⠀⠀ ———————————————— #ArenigFach #Arenigs #LlynArenigFach #Snowdonia #Wales #NorthWales #mountains #getoutside #adventure #teamsummitfit #notthesaferoute #northwalestagram #ordnancesurvey #thewalescollective #peopleofadventure #findyourepic #ukhikers #explore #walkinguk #explorewales #visitwales #snowdoniapics #nationalparksuk #snowdonianationalpark #thefrozendivide #outdoorphins #reflections #offthebeatenpath

This was one that Paul was looking forward to with some trepidation. But we reached the summit of Helvellyn in glorious sunshine making it our 💯 Wainwright together. We walked on to Nethermost Pike making that the dogs 💯 as they missed out on Scafell Pike a few years ago and were 1 fell behind. . . . . . . . . . . #naturephotography #landscapephotography #countryside #landscape #view #naturelovers #hiking #getoutside #wainwrights #cumbria #thelakedistrict #fromlakelandwithlove #lakedistrict #theplacetobe #thelakelanders #onelakedistrict #igerscumbria #hikingthelakes #hikingadventures #walkinguk #ukhikingofficial #UkHiddenGems #scenicbritain #Britainonfilm #ukhikers #rural_love #lakescollective #OurLakeDistrict #nationalparksuk #lakelandhikingcollective
