The distant monolith is Proposal Rock, on the Oregon coast. The smaller mounds are ghost trees, 2000-year-old wittinesses of a cataclysmic earthquake and tsunami. #proposalrock #ghosttree

The Columbia River empties into the Pacific Ocean with a big splash at Fort Stevens State Park west of Astoria, Oregon - a sight Lewis and Clark witnessed from this very spot in late 1805. The river comes in from the top right, emptying into the ocean near the breakers at the top center. According to a marker here, this rock jetty was built to keep the mouth of the river calmer for shipping, and to prevent silting. It worked, but also resulted in the edge of the shoreline extending another mile west of its natural location. Photo taken Saturday.

A year ago I got to explore Washington with @mylesdmyterko for the first time. It was an exceptional experience that included seeing the incredible coastline, and we also got to camp for the first time. The areas that we got to camp in were so serene and impossibly beautiful, I was sold on camping immediately after, which was a good thing considering the investment it takes to get started with good gear nowadays. On our last legs of the trip we decided to make it up to this waterfall on a bit of a whim, with a preconceived notion of what it would be like and how I would shoot it. None of that worked. We showed up too late for the light beams (we didn't realize how long the hike was), I used a different lens than I planned on, and my composition was completely different than what I envisioned. While this shot is fairly standard nowadays from what I can remember, I did my best to balance the composition by getting as far out on a questionable log as I could, balancing my bodyweight and my tripod precariously. I'm not sure what it is about scenes and waterfalls like this, but it is constantly at the top of my list for what I love to shoot. #oregon #Oregonexplored #discoveroregon #pnw #earthofficial #igscglobal #GlobalCapture #GlobalCapture_Jan17 #theIMAGED #artofvisuals #landscape #global_hotshotz #folkgood #exklusive_shot #earthofficial #beautifuldestinations #earthfocus #awesome_earthpix #wildernessculture #visualsoflife #visualsofearth #landscapescapture #worldtravelscapes #visualsoflife #natgeo #natgeolandscape #fstoppers

PERFECTLY imperfect together. 🧘🏻‍♀️ 🧘🏻‍♂️ . There are no accidental meetings between souls. 💘 He walked into my heart like he always belonged there, broke down my walls, taught me how to love, loves me like no other, understands me like no other, accepts me like no other, is always there for me even through the dark times. He is my earth to my wings, the yin to my yang, the breath to my lungs, the beat of my heart, the sanity to my insanity, my greatest gift from God. . I love you more and more every day my PERFECTLY imperfect husband and our perfect little life. . . . #mondayvibes #mondaymorning #yogaeveryday #meditatedaily #oregoncoast

The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a ‘green thing’ that stands in the way. Some say nature is all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself. ~ William Blake Some say when you are born into a world you don’t fit into, it’s because you were born to help create a new one...to the best of your ability. Maybe in some cases it’s to help others see things in a way that they originally might not fully understand. Maybe it’s to help them value and treasure the things so frequently seen as trivial. And as time goes on, everything begins to make more sense. You start to have a greater sense of self and identity when you realize what your purpose and path is...even if it is not understood or accepted by many. The past few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind between traveling, leading a workshop and organizing new ones, trying to manage the day job and being a mother and wife. Currently sitting on a ferry heading to an area that I’ve been wanting to see for years now...disconnecting from ‘civilization’for a bit. For now, here’s a quick image of one of my favorite pristine forested areas in Oregon. 🌿🍀🌲

.⁣ "Say Something"⁣ .⁣ This post comes a week shy of tourist season. Yup it's that time again here in the PNW and with it we need to remember a few things. With no shortage of beautiful places and exciting things happening around here the eager tourist (and even the mad local!) get overly zealous. Suddenly, all semblance of ethics goes out the door.⁣ .⁣ Remember if you see someone purposely venturing off-trail, leaving behind a wad of s*** paper, constructing illegal campfires, or just outright being an ass to everything and everybody in sight - YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY SOMETHING.⁣ .⁣ Remember. This is your home. We're all in this together.⁣ Motivation Monday, y'all. 🖖🖖 .⁣ ==========================⁣ Many thanks to ... @jj_oregon @wonderful.westcoast Thanks for the awesome features last week! - Super stoked to be the featured artist this month for @backyardbend . Seriously. Shoot them a high-five for keeping things cultured in Central Oregon! 🍺 ========================== . .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ . . . #waterfalls_of_the_world #bestwaterfalls #sonorthwest #wonderful.oregon #destination.pnw #pnw_moods #pnw_waterfalls #folkgreen #50shadesofpnw #collectivelynorthwest #mthrworld #fir_sure #oregonnw #bendoregon #beautifuldestinations #oregonexplored #thegreatpnw #visualsoflife #Loves_longexposure #forestmagic #northwestcreatives #outinoregon #discoverglobe #pnwonderland #wishyouwerenorthwest #water_brilliance #wildernessculture #westbysouthwest #pnwphotographer

We're not the only ones enjoying the new trails to run on. Our dachshunds love getting outside and exploring. Funny enough our girls JoJo and Bella usually spend less time outside then Tucker, but they're stoked to have plants and trees to sniff after we spent the Winter in a desert. . . . We just need to find a good way to get the tree sap off of the pups when they get done running and rolling around outside. A few days ago poor Tuck had a glob of it in between the pads of his foot, and it picked up a few pebbles. It took a little while to get them out without ripping his little hairs out with them. Does anyone have a better solution than using the diluted Dr. Bronner's we went with?

...and suddenly, a sleepy little lion cub appears! 😛 One of my main struggles with taking photos of Teemo is how short and small he is. I have to find a rock or something for him to sit on or else he would have disappeared in the tall grass and wild flowers. 😅 (Notice how even the flowers are taller than him!) #shortdogproblems

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, and this is our beloved dog, Moose. Many of you know Teddy & Gus... but Moose has been with us over 12 years. When I got Gus recently, I got a lot of pushback from people asking why I didn’t get a rescue. They didn’t realize I had FIVE rescue animals in my house. Three are left (Moose and OR humane Society cats). I saved Moose from being put down in Arizona. He had parvo, and I was doing a news story on a vet who was trying to find someone to adopt Moose. I fell in love immediately. Moose has been a HUGE part of the family... we call him Officer Moose because he enforces the rules with the other pets. He is glued to my daughter’s side, helping her with anxiety. In this photo, he fell asleep in her hand. He’s getting old & grumpy, but we absolutely adore him and can’t imagine life without Moose.
