Because I shared part of his story on here, I’m sharing the rest today. JackJack came to us two months ago too skinny, covered in ticks, completely untrained, and stressed out. We took him in and have worked every day to turn him into the best dog he can be, but over time we’ve had to acknowledge that we were a stop on his journey, his foster family instead of his forever family. He played too rough and too constantly with our other dogs, especially with our little terrier Dodger. Dodgey has shown signs of chronic stress, gets almost no play time because Jack can’t leave him alone, and has lost most of his long hair to Jackie. So. Today, Jackie heads up to Rhode Island with my trusted friend, Saint Angie, Patron Saint of the Yippy Little Shits @fostermutts , to find his forever home (with a stop at another foster home along the way). He’ll make an amazing friend to someone who loves adventure and snuggles and runninrunningrunning.
Jackie and I have walked probably 85 miles since he showed up incapable of walking on a leash. We have a bench where we sit and take pictures, but Wednesday, he didn’t want to sit with me. He just wanted to keep going. So I’m gonna let him. It’s hard, but it’s right for us, for Dodger and Dixie, and for Jack Attack/Yakkity Yak/Smack/Jackie-Boy/Jack-ass/wad/hole. I wouldn’t have come up with so many nicknames for a pup I didn’t love. Happy trails, Jackie. You’re so special, and in such capable hands, that I have no doubt of your awesome future.
