My phone was stolen in El Salvador a week ago so I’ve been MIA but I’m back in business now. What you missed: I left Nicaragua after summiting two volcanos and watch a beautiful sunset at a beach on the coast near Leon. I was supposed to head south to Grenada and San Juan Del Sur but made a friend that was heading north and decided to double back and do a few things I’d missed on the way down. We went to El Salvador where my phone was stolen on a bus and stayed in Santa Ana and summited a volcano with an emerald lake inside of it. We tried every version of vegetarian papusas and marveled at how civilized the country felt considering everyone said we’d die there. Then we went back up to Antigua for a night and the following day we hiked Acatenango which overlooks Fuego, the most active volcano in Central America. We spent the night in a tent on a ridge line and watched as the lava erupted from the volcano every five minutes. The hike altitude was at 4000+ meters and I got altitude sickness but it was worth it for this view. After a day of recouping from the hike, we continued on to Lake Atitlan. We visited the lakeside village of San Marcos where hippies seem to congregate to make trinkets. Then stayed at Casa Del Mundo for two nights and had the most incredible view of the lake. Yesterday I woke up by the lake in Guatemala and last night I arrived in North Carolina to have a mini vacation from my vacation to ski with my family. I’m only leaving about 100 priceless moments out but basically it was one of the best weeks of my entire life.
