Went to a native Australian (with an equal focus on native Tasmanian) nursery today. 🌿This greatly anticipated visit had but one disappointment -that we could not stay for near long enough. The lady, Shacks, was awesome! Informative, passionate and friendly. I know I will be able to learn something new each time we visit. I have a growing desire for natives and although we’re not going to restrict ourselves from other worldly beauties, we do wish for our gardens to have a prominent native backbone. James and I kind of thought it would be cool to guarantee the addition of one native plant to our gardens per month. That means 12 a year ~That’s 60 new Australian natives introduced within five years!!
We took home a pamphlet on native plants, as well as a booklet about invasive plants to our region. I kind of shuddered when I saw just how many problem plants and trees we have happily pitching their tents at our property! Many we are aware of but need to continue to work at eradicating them A.S.A.P.
I’m not one to take in a lot of information in one gulp, but I am trying my best to push myself to learn a little bit each day so that we can improve our environment for the best.
📍Nursery mentioned is Forth Valley Bush Nursery & Garden, located in NW Tasmania.
