The national parks of the United States are the ways in which we preserve the wild soul of the nation. One of the most famous of those national parks is Yosemite National Park in central California. This 1200 square mile national park was first given protected status in 1864 and it became an official World Heritage Site in 1984.
Yosemite is a land that exemplifies the power that ancient glaciers can have on a given area. It is located in the western Sierra Nevada and is high Sierra country. There are dramatic valleys, colourful meadows, strong granite cliffs, waterfalls, and ancient giant sequoia trees. Visitors can see such wildlife as black bears, bobcats, coyotes, mule deer, and bighorn sheep, just to name a few. This wild place lays a perfect foundation for a great place for outdoor fun as well.
Camping, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and mountain biking are just some of the things that you can do in Yosemite. It is the type of place that people can unplug from the modern world and enjoy the beauty that the wilderness has to offer.
Let’s get to work on planning your trip to Yosemite.
